Quality Assurance   Upon receipt of a tool order company policy dictates that EXCO SETS ITS TOLERANCE AT 30% OF THAT SPECIFIED BY THE CUSTOMER. In order to deliver on such precision guarantees, Quality Assurance plays a crucial role in our business. The predominant thinking in the Industry has always been to verify finished product dimensions and properties. At EXCO Engineering not only is the final product subjected to rigourous dimensional and repeatability verification, but all of our CNC machines are regularly subjected to testing based on acceptance criteria built about Volumetric Geometric Study (VGS). The implemenation of VGS and the integration of Quality Assurance with the CAM department has significantly improved our process capabilities and has affected a monumental improvement in our inspection times. An informative article concerning Exco's proprietary EXcheck method and the VGS approach have appeared in three different industry journals and is required reading for any manufacturing organization concerned with Quality Control. Our Metrology department uses Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), CATIA and DMIS software to compare Dies in progress with CAD data. The sophisticated verification process ensures absolute consistency in both dimensional and repeatability aspects.
